All right Indianapolis Ernie Johnson with TBS. It is trophy time. But what a heck of a final huh. And a congratulations to the Huskies of Yukon for a tremendous run. 3 appearances in the championship game in the last 4 years. But this night is all about Michigan. the NCAA division one men's basketball committee and he's got some hardware in his hands. I want to congratulate both teams on a fabulous season on fabulous seasons and a great championship game. But on behalf of the NCAA I want to present this trophy to the 2026 national championship coach Dusty May and the Michigan Wolverine. my honor to announce to you the final 4 MLP the most outstanding player Elliott to be standing here tonight surrounded by these guys and know you've gotten to the mountain top. Tell me how that feels. Man it just feels great being able to do this with the people I love in front of all these great fans. You picked a heck of a time to have your highest scoring game of this tournament man. Yeah I did for sure. Yeah. When you think back on this team with the guys who surround you now what will be the lasting memory about this unit. Just our selfishness that everybody has. Nobody cared about stats the whole season. Nobody cared about nothing but winning. 38 wins worth. Congratulations Elliott. Hey Axel. You got one second Axel. look you were a question mark yesterday talking about the left knee the left ankle would he play you're the big ten player of the year and I get the idea there was no way you were going to miss this game absolutely man these guys pour so much into us you know this whole season I'm a new guy here they welcome me in with open arms so nothing but love to me so that's the least I could do no matter how bad or how good I was playing I was gonna be on that floor no matter what And lastly look this is this means so much to so many players so many coaches so many families and I know your mom has been instrumental your mom really sparked you to. take this next step in your career. What would your message be to her tonight? Man, I owe you everything. You mean the world to me. You're a superhuman. You're a superwoman. I won't be here without you. And I'm gonna do everything I can to make sure you're OK forever. Yeah, so congratulations, man, on a great season and a championship. Here they are, ladies and gentlemen, your national champions, the Michigan Wolverines. Thank you, Ryan. EJ, terrific job. And then there was one, and it's Michigan. On the biggest stage, they get the Natty. The impressive game, impressive season, the character of those young men. All year, the hype, the expectations, the number one ranking during the season, they stayed together, they played for one another, and here they are, a champion of bringing the championship back to Ann Arbor. course, putting a new team together. The coaching staff, middle of the summer, trying to figure this thing out in their wildest dreams that we're going to be OK. But this good, this was really exceptional. I agree. They were eight and twenty four in the 202324 season. They went three and seventeen in the Big 10. This should give teams hope. This should be an inspiration that you can turn it around if built the right way. And Michigan has done it.
